The Importance of Cardio

We’ve all heard that cardio exercise is important for our health, but why exactly is that? We are told over and over to do more cardio but what benefits does it really have other than weight loss. Our staff at BOARD30 has seen the benefits of cardio over and over with our guests. That’s why we would like to share the real importance of cardio with you.

The Importance of Cardio

Organs

That’s right, cardio is key for the peak functioning of your organs. Cardio can help everything from your brain and joints to your muscles and lungs. Regular cardio can improve memory, protect against dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, and increase blood flow. The movement helps diminish joint pain and reduce chances of osteoporosis. It increases your oxygen supply and decreases the chance of some cancers and diabetes. Not to mention cardio improves blood sugar control, cholesterol, and stress.

Mood

We already know that regular cardio can help your overall body function, but did you know it can help increase your overall mood? Working out can help increase endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin. All of which help boost your mood and make you feel great. Cardio can also help you release stress.

Sleep & Energy

Cardio can also improve other parts of your overall health too. The boost of endorphins can help energy last longer throughout the day. Cardio also can help you sleep longer, faster, and promote REM sleep. While you shouldn’t exercise close to bedtime, a regular routine can help regulate your sleep cycle. It can also boost your immune system and help keep you healthy longer.
